YKIP joined IAPH delegation and participated in MEPC73 (October 22-26, 2018) at IMO headquarters in London.
As official NGO partner in consultive status for IMO, IAPH has been offering aspects and initiatives in order to facilitate the reduction of GHG emission from shipping. This time, representatives from Port of Rotterdam, Port of Los Angeles and Port of Yokohama were invited to make presentations on concrete cases from aspects of the ports, covering various issues such as on-shore power supply, use of LNG and alternative fuels, port call optimization etc, following the main session for the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) on October 24,
On behalf of YKIP, Sakura Kuma, the Executive Director of Marketing & Sales, explained a number of initiatives on development of low-carbon or zero-carbon alternative fuel, including the on-going project of Ship-to Ship LNG bunkering operation in Tokyo Bay.
